Flower Party

I thought I’d share the wild little Anemones I pulled from the greenhouse before a huge winter storm hit our little valley last week. Many are short and bent from being trapped under a double layer of frost cloth but I think the imperfection is absolutely charming.


Unable to push straight up, you can see how they managed to still find a way to bloom despite the less than ideal growing situation.


If you have little ones, this book All Year Round is certainly worth considering adding to your library. The authors Anne Druitt, Christine Fynes-Clinton and Marije Rowling put an enormous amount of wonderful information and love into this very special book.  So well written, it’s hard to not be moved to tears by the vivid and thoughtful stories they weave throughout the pages.


Oh, a little snapshot of last week’s haul! I hadn’t expected to find any flowers so didn’t bring a bucket. What a wonderful surprise!

    I debated between bringing poppies of anemones home this weekend.

    I'm glad I went with poppies. I couldn't match the beauty of your home grown crop.

    your anemones and your blog are simply beautiful. i want to frolic through your flower fields. the floppy anemones are perfect, even more so because one could never make them do that *on purpose*.

    So very beautiful, in all their twisting glory! I have planted some rows of corms outside, I hope the new growth I can see survive what the weather throws at them. I need a polytunnel or two for anemones and ranunculus but I can't face having them in my garden blocking the views!

    I'm going to check out the lovely sounding book for my 8 year old.
